This is an interesting structure we built in 2004. The goal was to have a lightweight,  easily assembled base that would be absolutely solid for a super accurate high power telescope and camera. It takes about 4 hours for 3 guys to assemble or disassemble the structure on the balcony.  Here are all the parts, stored nearby.
